Coastal Towers

The coastal towers of Sicily constituted the defensive system, of sighting and of communication along the coastal strip of the Kingdom of Sicily. From every tower it was possible to scan the sea and see the next one, with the possibility to send luminous signals. The towers were built from 1313 and there are a total of 218 coastal towers in Sicily.
